The Reality of Bareilawi’ism

The Barelwi cult originated in India during the time of the British colonial rule and was heavily influenced be Sufism and Hindusim. This book examines Barelvi belief and rituals in depth according to its own sources and concludes that Barelwisim is in reality closer to Shi'ism than to Ahl-us-Sunnah.
Some Barelwi ideas analyzed include:
- Supplicating to other than Allaah
- The belief that others along will Allah have Knowledge of the Unseen
- Exaggerating the abilities of the prophets and saints
- Saint-worship and Barelwi beliefs regarding them
- Barelvi customs like religious festivals and the death anniversaries
